President's Message

First, I want to thank you for this amazing opportunity to lead our association into another great and challenging year. It is truly an honor to be in this position, nominated and confirmed by my peers across the state. With the privilege of leading this valuable organization, I want to emphasize the importance of our role in shaping the future of our counties and this great state.

As we embark on a new century of service to our peers and constituents, it is crucial that we stand united. As county judges and commissioners, we are not just representatives; we are advocates, stewards and communicators. In a world where sound bites often overshadow substance, we must take it upon ourselves to ensure that the “rest of the story,” as radio personality Paul Harvey used to say, is heard — and more importantly, understood — by all.

In this pivotal year between legislative sessions, I’d like to see each of us elevate our involvement and engagement with one another and with state leaders. Let’s foster stronger connections among one another, our legislators and, most importantly, our constituents. Our ability to build consensus and solutions and provide sound representation on behalf of those we serve is a responsibility we must embrace wholeheartedly.

Let us remember the “why” behind what we do. As counties deal with the intended and unintended consequences of legislation, and the profound impact those consequences have on our communities, let’s be part of the process. Together, we can make a difference that resonates far beyond the confines of our offices, precinct barns and courtrooms.

As we sharpen our skills and knowledge at conferences and walk the halls of the Capitol together, I am excited to work alongside all of you, as we collectively strive to protect our counties and shape the future of Texas. Let’s rise to both the predictable and unpredictable challenges and seize the opportunities ahead for the best possible outcomes, together.

In your service,

Jen Crownover
